About SSSDThe Scandinavian Society for the Study of Diabetes (SSSD) has been in existence since the 1960-ies. The organization arranges yearly meetings for people with an interest in diabetes research (all aspects) coming from the Nordic countries as well from other countries. The last SSSD meeting was held in Nyborg, Denmark, 19-21 May 2017. The next meeting will be held in Turku, Finland, 11-13 April 2018 (Further information is obtained by link to “The 53rd SSSD Meeting”).
In order for young investigators to attend the SSSD meeting in Finland which should cover a major part of the costs associated with participation in the meeting. Details on these grants are to be found under the link “Travel grants”.
We would like to draw your attention to the possibilities to apply for Young Investigator Awards (link “Awards”, deadline Jan15, 2018) and to nominate colleagues for the Knud Lundbæk Award (link, “Awards”, deadline December 1, 2017).
The board of the SSSD is presently made up of Bjørn Olav Åsvold (chairman) and Kåre Birkeland for Norway, Outi Vaarala and Johanna Lempainen for Finland , Malin Flodström Tullberg and Per-Ola Carlsson for Sweden, Niels Grarup and Kurt Høylund for Denmark and Kolbeinn Gudmundsson and Bolli Thorsson from Iceland.
We strongly encourage everyone residing in - and also outside - the Nordic countries who is interested in diabetes research to participate in the yearly meetings.
